About the organisation
Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse, and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
About the role
HOW WILL I HELP?
- Providing Therapeutic Case Management for young women who may be impacted by Early and Forced Marriage, Domestic Servitude and Family Violence.
- Developing stakeholder relationships within the community and be an effective advocate for young women.
- Working from a warm home setting, to form meaningful relationships.
- Managing a very small caseload of up to six young women to ensure high quality case management outcomes.
- Part of a culture in which young people and staff are truly valued and community members feel a sense of belonging.
Lighthouse Foundations Young Women’s Freedom Program was established in October 2018 in collaboration with Department of Social Services and the Australian Federal Police in response to the growing data on reports of Forced Marriage in Australia. The Young Women’s Freedom Program was set up with the aim of providing safe and secure accommodation for young women with experiences of Forced Marriage, Modern Slavery and complex family violence.
This Transitional home, with individualised Therapeutic Case Management, will provide a safe space for the young women to be active participants in the creation of their transition into meaningful and sustainable living. Therapeutic Case Management will have an increased focus on empowerment in human relationships, education and employment to support the next steps into independent living.
